Espresso

INGREDIENTS

For 2 cups of coffee

14g - Fresh fine ground coffee.
1 - Espresso machine using purified water
1 - Good burr coffee grinder
1 - Tamper (coffee compressor)
2 -  4 oz Cups   (120 ml)

PREPARATION

Recommendation
Choose a fresh high-quality coffee bean, the closer to the roast date, the better. Ideally, you shouldn't use coffee that has been roasted for more than 3 weeks since coffee begins to lose its aroma. The freshness of the coffee is of paramount importance.

Step One: Grind 14g of coffee in a good burr grinder to a fine grind. Good espresso coffee should take 25-30 seconds to brew.

Step Two: Once coffee is ground, use the tamper to evenly compress the coffee in the portafilter, with enough pressure to remove any air within the grinds.

Step Three: With the water preheated to around 89-93ºC (always using purified water). Place the portafilter in the espresso machine. If you have followed all the other steps, it will take 5 to 8 seconds for the first few drops of the coffee cream to appear and will take 25 to 30 seconds to get the perfect espresso.

Step Four: You should see a hazelnut cream, called a thick cream or thick foam that appears on the surface adorning your coffee. By moving it and cutting it with a spoon, it closes itself again.

Step Five: It should be noted that you must purge the machine and clean the portafilter each time you make an espresso since it will leave a coffee or water residue that can affect the other espresso cups.

Step Six: Savor this moment with your perfect espresso. Enjoy its intense sweet aroma with notes of chocolate, fruit and flowers, depending on the origin of the chosen coffee.
